Save Our Home

SAVE OUR HOME is an animated educational video series created as my undergraduate thesis, designed to introduce environmental issues to young learners through engaging storytelling and approachable visuals. The project tackles themes such as climate change, air pollution, and flash floods by translating complex ideas into narratives that feel playful, relatable, and easy to understand.

As the art director of the project, I played a pivotal role in shaping the overall visual direction of the series, such as character designs and color palettes, to the mood and pacing of each episode. I also illustrated the title cards for every episode, which I drew inspiration from the mainstream animated shows I watched growing up. The animation outputs were carefully crafted to balance clarity and charm, incorporating fourth-wall breaks, expressive characters, and interactive moments to maintain engagement without overwhelming the audience.

Through this project, I explored how thoughtful art direction and visual storytelling can transform educational content into a memorable experience, especially for young viewers. We were able to demonstrate that animation can be both informative and emotionally engaging when guided by strong creative intent.

Kapuwa and Muwang observe an unusual shift in the weather—extreme heat followed by sudden rainfall—prompting them to question changes in their environment. The episode introduces climate change and breaks the fourth wall as Kapuwa invites the audience to identify actions that can help reduce its worsening effects.

EP1. What's Up with Mr. Climate?

EP2. We're Surrounded by a Dirty Pool

[Art Director / Editor: Louis Manata]

Kapuwa and Muwang witness their village suddenly submerged in floodwaters caused by a powerful storm. The episode highlights how improper waste disposal leads to clogged drainage systems, followed by a fourth-wall segment where Kapuwa asks the audience to identify habits that contribute to flooding.

EP3. There Must Be Something in the Air

[Art Director / Editor: Louis Manata]

Kapuwa experiences persistent coughing as thick smoke and poor air quality spread throughout the village. The episode presents air pollution and its health impacts, then engages the audience through a fourth-wall segment that asks how air pollution can be prevented.
